Structured Dog Boarding in Columbia, Mo

Paws IQ provides trainer-led, structured in-home dog boarding in Columbia, Missouri designed to maintain the structure, boundaries, and balanced routine your dog needs while you’re away. Rather than simply housing your dog, we provide purposeful exercise, calm leadership, appropriate socialization, and consistent expectations throughout their stay—so they come home balanced, fulfilled, and ready to settle back into everyday life.

Not Your Typical Dog Boarding

Traditional dog boarding is primarily designed to provide a safe place for your dog while you're away. Our in-home Structured Boarding goes further.

Dogs don’t want to be left at a facility, and you don’t want to leave them there.

At Paws IQ, we believe dogs thrive in a household when their days have structure and purpose. Rather than simply rotating between a kennel and unstructured playtime, your dog’s stay incorporates movement, boundaries, rest, enrichment, and appropriate social experiences.

Most importantly, your dog is being cared for by trainers who understand dog behavior and know how to adapt the experience to the individual dog in front of them.

It’s boarding designed around what dogs actually need.

Who Is Trainer-Led Boarding For?

Trainer-Led Boarding can be a great fit for owners who:

  • Want more structure than traditional dog boarding.

  • Want their dog cared for by experienced trainers.

  • Value exercise, boundaries, and fulfillment.

  • Don't want good habits disappearing while they're away.

  • Want their dog to have appropriate social experiences rather than uncontrolled group play.

  • Prefer a more intentional approach to their dog's stay.

If your dog struggles with significant behavioral issues, reactivity, or aggression, contact us before booking. We can help determine whether Trainer-Led Boarding or our Board & Train program would be the better fit.

Every Stay Starts With a 10-20 Minute Meet & Greet 🐕

Before your dog’s first stay, we’ll schedule a Meet & Greet so we can get to know them—and they can get to know us.

We’ll learn about your dog’s personality, routine, training history, social behavior, needs, and any behavioral concerns while observing how they respond to us and the boarding environment. This helps us determine whether Trainer-Led Boarding is the right fit and gives us the information we need to create a safe, comfortable, and successful stay for your dog.

What a Paws IQ Structured Boarding Includes:

Every dog is different, so we don’t believe every dog should have an identical schedule. We adjust activities and interactions based on your dog’s age, energy level, temperament, and individual needs.

Throughout their stay, your dog’s routine may include:

Structured Walks

Walks provide more than exercise. They give dogs movement, purpose, mental stimulation, and an opportunity to practice calmly following human direction.

Exercise & Fulfillment

Dogs need healthy outlets for their physical and mental energy. We incorporate appropriate activity throughout the stay to help fulfill those needs.

Calm Downtime

More activity isn’t always better. Learning how to settle and relax is just as important as exercise. Your dog receives structured periods of rest and decompression throughout the day.

Appropriate Socialization

Socialization isn’t about putting every dog together. We evaluate individual dogs and provide appropriate social experiences based on temperament, comfort, and compatibility.

Structure & Boundaries

The little things matter. Doorways, feeding, walks, greetings, transitions, and downtime all provide opportunities to reinforce calm, polite behavior.

Trainer Supervision

Your dog isn’t simply being watched. Their behavior, interactions, energy, and environment are being managed by people who work with dogs professionally.
